RECOGNITION FOR DESI WRITER

Pratap Reddy.

Pratap Reddy.

Pratap Reddy says his writing took a hit as “working from home” and “writing from home” was all a bit too much for him to navigate, but he’s been enjoying a good run.

Late last year, his short story, The Lime Tree, appeared in the much-acclaimed anthology Changing the Face of Canadian Literature (the book was on CBC’s list of Best of 2020).

Last month, Mississauga Arts Council presented him with their 2021 Marty Award  in the Literary Arts category.

“While this is more of a social recognition than a literary achievement, what heartened me was that MAC nominated me of their own accord – which is an honour in itself. Though the other contender was strong (being the past official poet laureate of Mississauga) the jury selected me because of ‘fluid story-telling, evocation of place, and engaging stories’.”

Pratap Reddy is the author of  Remaindered People & Other Stories (to be published), Ramya’s Treasure and Weather Permitting & Other Stories.
