EVERY DAY IS A SPECIAL DAY WITH THESE ADORABLE CHILDREN’S ITEMS

Diaper sets from Feltman Brothers - a nautical pattern one day and a hot air balloon one the next, with hand-embroidered motifs and matching diaper covers.

I see new parents today decking up their kids just for a walk around the block and wonder if it’s a generational thing – the keeping of things for when we go out or when we have people over.

This extends – in my home – to everything from nicer clothes to fine china and cutlery. Oh, I’ve read all the articles about using nice things every day. Treat yourself! Don’t wait for special occasions! And I’m tempted. But then who’s going to wash everything and put it all away again? Best use everyday ones!

I was like that with baby clothes, too, when our first child was born. I kept all the nicer baby clothes for an outing and those were, let’s face it, rare with a newborn. And she grew out of them before she’d barely worn them a couple of times. I actually found a set of baby clothes, gifted by a friend, tucked away at the back of the closet in their original giftwrap way past the time she could fit into them. Lesson learned, I put all the clothes to good use with our second child.

But my neighbour, who recently gave birth to the sweetest little baby boy (he even sleeps through the night at just a couple of months old!) needed no urging to dress him in “special” clothes.

As you might have guessed, my children are all grown-up now but I can still be found cooing over not only babies but also over their oh-so-cute clothes and accessories.

As a newborn, my neighbour’s baby would greet me when I popped in to help babysit – or just hold him and play with him a little – in adorable vintage style diaper sets. A nautical pattern one day and a hot air balloon one the next, with hand-embroidered motifs and matching diaper covers. They were from Feltman Brothers, my neighbour said.

I took him out in his stroller just recently and other neighbours on our street stopped to say hello, admire his dimples, and his outfit.

The warm, velour romper set was perfect for keeping the little one cozy on a coolish evening without sacrificing style. The vintage style, coupled with heirloom quality is a timeless piece indeed. It reminds me of the jhablas my mother made for my children when they were born. And no wonder, because it is hand-smocked and comes with a matching bonnet!

Speaking of accessories, remember marking your children’s age and height on a door frame? Well, now there’s a Milestone Blanket from Feltman Brothers!
