ART GALA HOSTED BY LITERAL TRASH IS PART LIVE PERFORMANCE, PART ART EXHIBIT

After an eight month residency in 2025, Toronto comedian Adam Mohammed invites audiences back to the Tranzac on August 15 for a wholesome night of art and irony for An Art Gala hosted Literal Trash.
Trash (pronouns: “trash” or “it”), is a two foot sentient garbage bag with a heart of gold. Created and performed by Adam Mohammed, Literal Trash is an exploration of what happens when a bag of trash comes to life.
Illustrator Ian MacDonald has created very special works of art depicting trash’s life offstage. An Art Gala hosted by Literal Trash will be structured around the unveiling of each work of art and its stories, as the literal bag of trash conducts casual Q&A segments with Ian to dive deep. Real deep. Hopefully, not too deep.
Trash is a friendly yet often overlooked bag who is still introverted, and still excited to meet people. An Art Gala audiences are invited to enjoy the art, the relaxed comedy of ironic meet & greets with the sentient, unscented bag of trash that does not have eyes, and an overall night of chill, wholesome, immersive connection—all to challenge traditional ideas of art, comedy, and community.
Adam Mohammed is a local physical comedy artist who loves 2D animation, Disney and Pixar stories, and their memorable characters. After performing at the Long Winter inter-arts festival, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, Kajea’s Porch View Dances, a year of unscripted character work at Social Capital Theatre, and being curated for Hercinia Arts Collective’s immersive art parties and several not-for-profit community-based performances, he has finally formed his non-final form in Literal Trash.
Ian MacDonald’s talent and undying love of fantasy have led him to illustrate artwork for My Little Pony television series and trading card games, including Magic:The Gathering and Disney Lorcana.
