HOPE TRIUMPHS

A SAFE HARBOUR IN TUMULTUOUS TIMES

We have had a sobering past year with rising inflation, increasing household debts and grocery prices climbing through the roof.

Add to this, our collapsing healthcare system. We can look at factors such as fiscal mismanagement, mandates including lockdowns and just plain personal greed. We’ve been buying our mansions at almost zero per cent interest thinking we could move forward into the future unaffected.

A mood of pessimism and global uncertainty prevails. The blunt economic impact of the war in Ukraine is reverberating around the world. The nuclear threat is real. The harbinger of a new day, a new beginning for the world with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 never materialized. The world has descended into further chaos and social unrest. Winds of change breathe down our necks from every direction.

Yet in our world of chaos and change, we live in a creation marked by new life and new beginnings. A baby, who nine months before was not, is born. The barren trees in the dead of winter continue to burst forth in green leaf in the spring. The groundhog emerges from hibernation. The birds sing their song again. Each day ends the night with the rising of the sun. One of the singers in the Bible gives praise to God, singing, “You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth”.

Witness the faithfulness of our unchanging Creator, the God who made all things. In His hands are seed time and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night. He continues to care for and uphold what He has made in the midst of the chaos and death we, mankind, have brought into this world.

Even here, God gives the message of hope to mankind! He made all things and He can remake us and give us a new beginning through His Son Jesus, whom He sent. The One, through Him all things were made including us, was born in Bethlehem for this very purpose. The Lord Jesus Christ gave His life as the perfect, acceptable sacrifice to God for sinners. In His resurrection, there is new beginning, a new creation! Jesus says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

May He be your comfort and hope. Have a blessed Christmas!
