Karn Kalra was a contestant in the inaugural season of the hit spin-off series Bachelor in Paradise Canada that aired on CityTV. Toronto-based Kalra’s passion for performing developed at an early age while entertaining his peers in school plays but it wasn’t until he graduated university that he decided to pursue acting as a professional career.
His first big break came with the Netflix original Feel The Beat in 2019, appearing alongside Sofia Carson. He continues to build his body of work in film and television productions including The Hot Zone: Anthrax (National Geographic), Boyfriends of Christmas Past (Amazon Prime), and Green Book (Universal Pictures), The Dictator’s Playbook (PBS) and The Clue to Love.
Outside of acting, Kalra is passionate about health and fitness, art, reading and spending time with his family.
He has also created his own production company which films and creates content for professional athletes and musicians including Norman Powell of the NBA Portland Trail Blazers, Roy Woods and Flo Rida.
Name: Karn Kalra. I was originally named Rohan (my brother’s name) and when my parents decided to name me Karn, it was originally spelt Karan, but my mom decided to remove the extra a. My name represents a warrior and protector. My father once told me the story that Karn gave away his metal armour to protect someone else and that is how he, the warrior Karn, died. I find it amazing to know my name has so much meaning and power behind it. I also relate to it because I, too, protect anyone that I love and I would go as far as I need to, just to make sure they are taken care of. I would provide for them.
Currently: I’m an actor and can be seen in Bachelor in Paradise, The Hot Zone: Anthrax, Boyfriends of Christmas Past, 10 Truths about Love and Breaking Expectations.

Favourite sport: Basketball.
Favourite sportsperson: If I’m being transparent, I don’t watch too many sports, but I enjoy the energy of it. I’ll watch the Raptors every now and then.
Favourite book: Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey.
Favourite activity: Working out.
I’m freaked out by: Spiders.
I hang out: At the park, in a coffee shop or one of my favourite lounges, Coffee Oysters Champagne.
I need: Good food, good water, good energy, my family and friends.
I want to be: An Oscar winner by 35.
My role models: I have a few. My family, of course, because I learn from each of them. But I’m also inspired by Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Mathew McConaughey.
Tips to save the planet: Stop wasting food. Think about the transportation it takes to get the food from point A to point B and all the fuel that’s burned because of it. Not to mention the packaging the food comes in, all the plastic that is thrown out. If only the average person was aware how much food they need to consume to feel full and have the right amount of nutrition to keep their body healthy.
In a perfect world: Where you live in the world would not matter. How much money you have would not matter. The colour of your skin would not matter. If only we lived in a world where we all started doing more small, positive things to help those that need it. It takes more energy to hate than it does to love.
