MEET ADITI

EXERCISING MY OPTIONS

Aditi Shah is a Peloton yoga and meditation instructor.

Name: Aditi Shah. You’d have to ask my parents why they named me Aditi!

Currently: I’m a Peloton yoga and meditation instructor, teaching live and on-demand classes. I also teach Pilates – most recently a Diwali Pilates class as a collaboration with Tesher. I’m also a host, speaker and content creator. Before taking on this position, I was a professional model, actor and vocalist and, of course, a NYC yoga teacher. I love my creative life and look forward to including it in my future. The throughline for so much of what I do is authentic and deep connection – and the opportunity to empower others to live more freely and more fully.

Favourite colour: So hard to choose, but I think I would go with green or purple.

Favourite outfit: Truly impossible to pick just one and my outfit changes depending on what I’m doing. My casual go-to outfit is sneakers, jeans and a tee and when it comes to denim, I am almost always wearing Levis, which I love.

Favourite singers:  I grew up with music and I sing, so it’s very hard to choose a favourite. I think Joni Mitchell and David Bowie are iconic. I love a lot of different artistes including classical composers like Vivaldi and contemporary artistes like Ariana Grande, Adele, Kacey Musgraves, Alanis Morisette, Halsey, Alicia Keys, Kevin Garrett and many more.

Favourite song: How could anyone choose!

Favourite TV show: The Wire is up there for me. I also think The Office is totally brilliant. At the moment I’m really loving Succession.

Favourite ice cream flavour: Almost any ice cream is good ice cream, but Davey’s Cookies and Cream is up there.

Favourite cuisine: My mom’s cooking!

Favourite restaurant: I’m honestly spoiled with so many incredible choices in New York, but lately I’ve been loving Dhamaka as an option for Indian!

Favourite sports: I love to watch basketball, but I love to run and play soccer.

Favourite book: I love to read and love so many books, but my favourite authors are my friends who have or are on their way to publishing books! At the moment, I’m very excited for Hanya Yanagihara’s new book. I really loved her first book, A Little Life.

Favourite activity: I’m so lucky to live a life that I’m so excited about. I love teaching and connecting with the Peloton community, any opportunity to be creative, and spending time with my loved ones.

I hang out: With my friends and family!

Aditi Shah with Canadian musical artiste Tesher with whom she co-curated a playlist for a Diwali Pilates class.

I want to be: In my classes, I want to connect with my community. The classes are all different, but I am always willing to be vulnerable, playful, and authentic – to create a space where people leave feeling at least five per cent more freedom within themselves.

Tips to save the planet:  We have more power than we know as consumers, and it’s our responsibility to educate ourselves about the brands we buy and businesses we empower. It’s so important for us to be intentional with our spending power.
