Jasman Sangha has accepted a Division 1 Basketball scholarship offer to attend Texas A&M Corpus Christi this fall where he is enrolled in the business program.

Born in Surrey and raised in Brampton, Jasman went to Louise Arbour Secondary School where he was named MVP.

He went on to attend schools in Atlanta, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and just recently in Kansas.

And now comes news of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men’s basketball program having added Jasman to the squad.

The 6 ft-8 inch forward/centre will join the team after spending the last year at Garden City CC where he averaged 13.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He shot .525 from the floor and .455 from beyond-the-arc.

“I’m excited to join the team and hope to be a mentor for younger Canadians who wish to play basketball,” Jasman said. “This has been the result of years of hard work and I’m looking forward to getting started in Corpus Christi, Texas!”

Jasman is one of the first few Sikh-Canadians to play Division 1 Basketball in the NCAA.

Sangha began his collegiate career at Pensacola State where he played in 20 games in the shortened 2019-20 season. Since it was a COVID-19 year, Sangha still has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Prior to Pensacola, Sangha was a four-year letterwinner at Louise Arbour Secondary School. He was named both the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and was named an All-Star. Sangha was a two-time All-League selection in 2017 & 2018.
