MEET SALONI

 KNOW ABOUT ME

Saloni Boyina is creating quite the stir with Know About You, a fusion of Latin music with Punjabi and RnB vibes.

Following the success of her debut EP Moving On reaching number 2 in India’s pop charts and subsequently achieving a number 18 position in the UK pop charts with the EP On My Own, Saloni is back!

With her unique blend of Pop, R&B and Bollywood, the singer-songwriter is creating quite the stir with Know About You, a fusion of Latin music with Punjabi and RnB vibes.

London and Milton Keynes-based Saloni sings in 10 languages and across numerous genres. Her original songs were selected for a UK songwriting competition (in association with the Brit Awards), she has a number of Upcoming Female Artist awards under her belt and has received acclaim from music industry professionals and media alike.

Saloni has performed across the UK at various festivals, shared the stage with the late S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, and toured with K.S. Chitra, Indian Idol Revanth, Arjun, Tasha Tah and Mumzy Stranger amongst others.

Name: Saloni Boyina. Saloni means beautiful and I think my dad heard the name somewhere, instantly fell in love with it and named me Saloni!

Currently: I am a British-born Indian releasing music to embrace both my cultures. I’d like to call myself a stage performer, I love performing to an audience, but of course over the last couple years that all came to a standstill. So I’ve grown my online audience, released many mixes gaining recognition from BBC and reaching 5 million views on TikTok! Now, I’m bringing my love for both eastern and western music to my original music, and I’m excited to get back on stage doing what I love most!

Favourite colour: Definitely blue, Tiffany blue.

Favourite outfit: I have so many outfits I love, would be so hard to choose. Personally, when dressing up for events, I think I suit desi outfits more – elegant saris and lehengas. But I always love to create a little fusion with my outfits too!

Favourite Bollywood star: Hrithik Roshan!

Favourite Hollywood star: Tom Cruise.

Favourite movie: I’m a movie fanatic so I have a gazillion in mind. Can I get away with saying all of Marvel and Fast and Furious?

Favourite singers: I’ve taken inspiration from so many singers, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Vidya Vox, Zack Knight and so on. But the first ever singer that I loved to pieces and knew I wanted to be like was Shreya Ghoshal, her voice is honestly one of a kind!

Favourite song: Way too many to choose from, but for some sneaky promo I’ll say Know About You by Saloni!

Favourite TV show: Again too many to choose from! Suits, Vampire Diaries, Prison Break, Jane the Virgin, the list goes on...

Favourite ice cream flavour: Chocolate, always chocolate.

Favourite cuisines: Indian and Mexican!

Favourite restaurant: Mum’s food! At uni I don’t get enough of that though so then it’s Nandos, Pizza Express and Wahaca.

Favourite sport: I’m not much of a sportsperson but if I watch anything, it’ll be cricket. I also love dancing (yes, I think dance counts as a sport!).

Favourite sportsperson: I don’t fan over sports enough to have a favourite.

Favourite author: I’m not much of a bookworm to be honest, the last thing I remember reading properly was Percy Jackson. I should probably get back into reading though.

Favourite activity: Singing, singing, singing!

I hang out: With my mates, always finding something new to do in London and sometimes a chill day at home is what we need.

I’m freaked out by: Insects.

I need: To be occupied, whether that be working or spending quality time with my friends, family and myself.

I want to be: Enjoying my music, collaborating with artistes I’ve grown up listening to and performing on some of the biggest stages in the next 10 years!

My role models: Definitely my parents because they’re down to earth, loving. They’ve taught me perseverance, how to face challenges and just be the best version of myself.

Tips to save the planet: Educate yourself and others and give back to the world and community at every little opportunity possible!

In a perfect world:  There would be peace all around, no judgement or violence, just all love! Oh, and I could do with more hours in a day!
