ANAND FINDS JOY IN MUSIC

Toronto-based songwriter, artiste and producer Anand Anjay Ramnanan.

Touched My Heart is an original English uptempo pop-dance tune, with lyrics and melody composed by Toronto-based songwriter, artiste and producer Anand Anjay Ramnanan.

Released some weeks ago in Canada and internationally on  mainstream radio programs, it has been gaining airplay in Canada and in the Caribbean.

Ramnanan has been on the Canadian music scene for decades, one of a few South Asian songwriters, recording artistes and producers who are independent and still going strong. He cites others like Vancouver-based Dal Hothi.

He has contributed to society through his original music. Born in Trinidad, the sister island Tobago, he was always musically inclined and by age 12, was playing drums for a boy-scout musical band. He came to Canada as a teenager and recalls the good times during his early years in Toronto. In 1993 he started composing original pop songs “naturally”. Nine pop singles and an album released in Canada gained him success and recognition.

Juli, his first single as a recording artiste in 1998 was an original fusion pop composition. The record touched the hearts of over 1 million people. English vocals were recorded by him and Hindi vocals recorded by Sharique and the late Hassan Kasani. He performed Juli on television shows and live at the Canadian National Exhibition.

The vocals for Touched My Heart have also been recorded by Ramnanan. The arrangement and mix was done by Al Kussin and it mastered by Juno recipient Kristian Montano.

It is available on Apple Music and Amazon Music. A lyrical music video is available on Youtube. Ramnanan’s original music catalog is available on Soundcloud, digital music platforms and some of his work is available at the National Library of Canada.

Ramnanan will be releasing another English single, I Remember You, in July 2025. For more info, visit www.anandramnanan.com.
