HOPE TRIUMPHS
YOU AREN’T ALONE IF YOU FEAR TOMORROW

I don’t know about you, but more and more I think, ‘I wonder what’s going to happen tomorrow?’ I hear others saying, ‘I don’t know what to expect tomorrow.’
The stability and predictability of everyday life we are so used to are being rattled to the core, to the foundations. We are anxious about tomorrow. We lack confidence. There is no certainty that I will make my payments or keep my job. The volatile markets, the fragile economy, surging crime rates, a failing health care system, rising inflation, food costs and food insecurity raise skepticism. The seismic tremors are shaking the ground beneath our homes. Is a collapse imminent?
Our politicians are making promises, promises of hope for tomorrow; spending dollars that are not there, spiralling our insurmountable national debt of more than 1 trillion dollars. These far-fetched promises are notsustainable.
Perhaps what’s furthest from our minds is that this is the judgment of God upon our society. The moral and spiritual foundations are collapsing and the economy ultimately cannot survive under this collapse. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is one who keeps the law”(Proverbs 29:18).
In serving the community, we hear so many sad stories of divorce and broken families and their unintended consequences of hurt, pain, poverty, mental health issues, lack of discipline and crime. We encourage husbands to work and, if possible, for wives to be at home to care for their children, to raise and teach them. The sense of security and stability begins in the home. That’s the way God arranged society to be.
More importantly, the hope for restoration is not found in ourselves. We are broken people. Sin breaks all of us. It was so beautiful to see once again, all of us, broken people, coming together this past Good Friday and Easter Sunday to hear the message of the hope of Jesus’ resurrection. In HIs love, God sent Jesus to take His judgment for sinners upon Himself and fully pay for sins through His death on the cross; for all whom He came to save.
In His resurrection to life from the dead, He promises forgiveness and eternal life to all who trust in Him alone for their salvation. His promises are certain and we can depend on Him fully. Our hope for restoration for us, for our families and society is found in Him! He raises up. He is the hope for tomorrow!
