MEET SPOORTI

CHANGE STARTS WHEN YOU DO

Spoorti Sridhar, Miss Toronto 2025. “Born in Bengaluru, raised in Princeton, shaped by India, and thriving in Toronto. Architect, designer, traveller, and 2019’s Miss South India Queen.”

Name: Spoorti Sridhar. Spoorti means inspiration in Sanskrit, and my parents believed I’d live up to that name – turns out, they were right.

Currently: From designing buildings to designing experiences – I started as an architect in India, pursued my Master’s in Design in Toronto, and am now shaping my career in interior design. Oh, and I also happen to be Miss Toronto 2025, hosted by Crown City Pageant.

Being crowned Miss Toronto 2025 is: Beauty with a purpose, a voice with impact, and a crown that represents more than just sparkle – it stands for strength, empowerment and inclusivity. As part of my advocacy, I focus on raising awareness around mental health, particularly depression among immigrant women. Through my community, The Filter Kaapi Gang, I aim to create a supportive space for South Indian women to connect, share experiences, and uplift each other.

To me, true beauty is: The kind that doesn’t fade with time – it is kindness, confidence, and the way you make others feel.

My life in 50 words (or less!): Born in Bengaluru, raised in Princeton, shaped by India, and thriving in Toronto. Architect, designer, traveller, and 2019’s Miss South India Queen. Fiercely close to my mom and grandmother, endlessly curious about the world, and always chasing the next adventure.

My favourite line in poetry:

To see a world in a grain of sand,

And a heaven in a wildflower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,

And eternity in an hour.

– William Blake

Favourite colours: The power of black, the softness of baby pink, and the depth of olive green – versatile, bold and timeless, just like me.

Favourite designer: Elsa Schiaparelli – because fashion should be art, not just fabric.

Favourite movies: The Notebook (for the hopeless romantic in me) and Shutter Island (for the thrill-seeker who loves a good twist).

Favourite books/authors: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (because destiny is real) and Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty (because perspective is power).

Favourite TV shows: Silo (for the mystery), Nine Perfect Strangers (for the mind games), and Friends (because, well, obviously).

Favourite ice cream flavour: Chocolate – because why mess with perfection?

Favourite cuisine: As a certified foodie, choosing just one feels impossible. But if you’re handing me a taco or a plate of South Indian street food, I won’t say no.

Favourite restaurant: Seven Lives Tacos y Mariscos in Kensington for the best tacos in Toronto, and VV Puram Street Food in Bengaluru for the flavours of home.

Favourite activities: Travelling, dancing, and making memories with my family – because life is about experiences, not just milestones.

I hang out: Where there’s good food, good music, and even better company.

I’m freaked out by: Lizards. No further explanation needed.

I need: My mom – because some things in life are just non-negotiable.

“As part of my advocacy, I focus on raising awareness around mental health, particularly depression among immigrant women,” says Spoorti Sridhar.

My role models: Kylie Verzosa (for beauty with brains), Arundhati Roy (for words that change the world), and Deepika Padukone (for breaking barriers and owning her story).

Tips to save the planet: One small action isn’t insignificant – it’s a ripple. One less plastic bottle, one more recycled paper, one step at a time. Change starts when you do.

In a perfect world: Happiness isn’t a privilege, it’s a given.
