South Asian Cultural & Health Association for Youth & Seniors (SACHAYS) will present an evening of soulful music featuring the acclaimed vocalist Mahuya Banerjee from Kolkata for the first time in Toronto on May 16.
South Asian Cultural & Health Association for Youth & Seniors (SACHAYS), a leading community non-profit in Toronto and winner of Toronto Community Champion Award 2025, announces an evening of soulful music featuring the acclaimed vocalist Mahuya Banerjee from Kolkata for the first time in Toronto.
The concert will take place on Friday, May 16, at the Tagore Centre, with all proceeds going to the Trupti Hot Meals Senior Nutrition Program.
As food insecurity continues to affect vulnerable elderly populations, the Trupti program serves as a critical lifeline, providing nutritious, freshly cooked meals to seniors in need. This fundraiser aims to expand the program’s reach, ensuring that no senior in our community goes to bed hungry.
“Music has the power to bring people together for a greater cause,” says Mahesh Nileshwar, Executive Director of SACHAYS. “By joining us for this performance by Mahuya, our guests aren’t just enjoying a world-class concert of Bollywood hits, ghazals and Rabindra Sangeet; they are directly putting a warm meal on a senior’s table.”
SACHAYS is a grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of seniors through community-led initiatives, health advocacy, and nutritional support. The TRUPTI Hot Meals Program provides balanced nutrition to homebound and underprivileged seniors, international students and vulnerable families, fostering both physical health and social connection.
