With a Brampton Library membership, find many great ways to elevate your nonfiction experience.
While a book may be the first option one thinks of, there are other, perhaps, less conventional ways to enjoy works of nonfiction. Spoiler alert: Brampton Library’s got them!
Here’s how to do nonfiction differently with a free Brampton Library card:
Browse OverDrive or Libby. Overdrive is Brampton Library’s primary eBook and audiobook provider. Read or listen online on a web browser and on the Libby app, or download an eBook to be enjoyed on your eReader. On Libby, you can explore carefully curated shelves for varied interests and also, tag and save books to make your own list! Explore the shelves on Libby here.
On-Demand platforms free with your membership. You won’t find waiting lists on these platforms. No need for checkouts, holds, or downloads. Just select and enjoy. Explore these resources on the eBooks and Audiobooks page for various age groups:
AudioBookCloud. Stream your favourite audiobooks whenever you want!
TeenBookCloud. A collection of hi/lo literature and enhanced books for middle and highschool students featuring professional narration and line-by-line text highlighting.
TumbleBooks. An online collection of books for preschoolers, elementary school children, and their families. Make reading a fun experience for kids with read-along storybooks that feature adjustable online text and complete audio narration.
Audiobooks and DVDs. Browse the collection of physical audiobooks and informational DVDs on various topics online or at your nearest branch.
Kanopy. Stream documentaries and other non-fictional content on Kanopy, an on-demand video streaming platform free with your Library card. Every user gets 20 credits per month which can be used for different types of content. Learn how to create an account using your library card on Kanopy.

And after all that, physical books will always be a solid option. Here’s how to borrow them from the Library:
Visit any of the nine Brampton Library branches – select a book from the shelves, check it out at a self-check machine, or at the service desk, to take home.
Browse the Library website to navigate the full collection at all branches, place a hold on your choice(s) and specify the branch for pick-up. Track your holds by logging into your account.
Download the Library mobile app – discover all the books available and use the app’s check-out feature.
All this is available for free with a Brampton Library membership.
