Toronto-based actor Rain Janjua recently received a 2026 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Voice Performance for his role as Daniel Tiger in the globally beloved children’s series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

Rain is already emerging as one of Canada’s most exciting new voices in the industry. Coming up next, he is set to voice Chase in the highly anticipated third feature film, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, coming out this August. His co-stars in PAW Patrol include Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, Bill Nye, Terry Crews and McKenna Grace.

The nomination signals a defining moment in his trajectory, placing him among the country’s top performers and underscoring his ability to bring emotional depth, warmth, and authenticity to one of children’s television’s most iconic characters. Turning 13 in May, Rain has already built an expansive body of work across film, television and animation. Standout roles include Gekko in PJ Masks: Power Heroes, Togo in CBC’s Go Togo!, Zeke in Work It Out Wombats!, and Jamie Crocker in Let’s Go Bananas.

His performance as Daniel Tiger represents a significant breakthrough, anchoring a series known for its impact on emotional learning and early childhood development, and positioning him as a young actor whose work resonates far beyond the screen.

Rain’s journey began at an early age, inspired by watching young creators online and developing a natural curiosity for performance and storytelling. Despite initial hesitation from his parents about entering the industry so young, Rain demonstrated an early sense of conviction, presenting a thoughtful and well-articulated case for pursuing acting as a serious craft. His persistence ultimately led to their support, with the condition of close guidance as he navigated the industry.

That determination was already evident in his early work, beginning with school plays in kindergarten, where his strong memory, expressive instincts, and imaginative storytelling set him apart. His early creativity, experimenting with accents, characters, and music at home, laid the foundation for the versatility he brings to his work today.

In 2025, Rain Janjua released an original hip-hop track titled The RAiNaissance and has developed his skills as an advanced beatboxer.

He began his career in commercial acting, booking national campaigns before transitioning into television with a role in the popular television series Chucky. From there, he quickly established his presence within major global franchises. In addition to his voice-over acting, Rain has also appeared in notable film productions including the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival selected short Sea Star.

Beyond acting, Rain is also a talented musician. In 2025, he released an original hip-hop track titled The RAiNaissance and has developed his skills as an advanced beatboxer. He is also an Ontario Karate Champion, training in Goju-Ryu karate with a brown/black belt (one level below black belt) and a blue belt in weapons. Academically, he excels as well, having skipped a grade and consistently ranking in the top 1% nationwide.

Of Indian and Polish heritage, Rain brings a unique and culturally rich perspective to his work, combined with a level of discipline, charisma, and creative instinct that continues to set him apart.
